Figure 1 Bringing wonderful energy, sensitivity and passion to his music, Ian Burns adds to the world of music a well rounded and clever dynamic. A driving force in his field, he has devoted a great deal of his time to perfecting his art as a tuba performer and music educator.

Holding bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Tuba Performance with a minor in Conducting from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Burns consistently performed with the Peabody Wind Ensemble, conducted by Harlan Parker, the Peabody Brass Ensemble, Peabody British Brass Band, and the Peabody Camerata Orchestra. Freelancing with several brass quintets and his tuba quartet, Mr. Burns is a regular musical presence in the Baltimore area.

Mr. Burns was a source of positive leadership and innovative thinking among his peers. While attending the Peabody Conservatory he held positions as a Resident Assistant, Stage Crew Supervisor, Student Government President and sat as a university representative to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Executive Council Board.

As an educator Mr. Burns held a private studio for lower brass students in Sykesville, Maryland. He has worked extensively as a staff member with the marching bands of Century High School in Sykesville, MD and the much acclaimed Westminster High School of Westminster, MD. Mr. Burns has also been the music director and conductor for Century High School's Musical Theater Productions. Currently he has been serving as a brass clinician to schools in the Metro-Baltimore area and is the Director of Instrumental Music for Arundel High School.
