2009 - 2010 AIMA Board Members

President Andy Musliner -
Should I be elected President, I will encourage and expect your enthusiastic involvement and commitment to making the Arundel instrumental music program uniquely rewarding for our students. The second area I’d like to focus on is fundraising. I’d like to see us triple our fundraising in the next two years so we can raise the level of comfort for our treasurer, and, more importantly, raise the level of the experience for our musical students and their fans. Finally, I’d like to focus on communication. I have found that the more upfront and clear communication there is in any endeavor, the more smoothly things go.

Although it’s likely my qualifications for the position of AIMA President are irrelevant, I offer the following: I’m the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Digital Management, Inc., a business strategy and information technology solutions firm based in Bethesda (www.digitalmanagement.com). I’ve spent my entire career helping my clients transform the immutable and realize new potential. My professional bio is online at http://www.linkedin.com/in/andymusliner. I have limited musical talent and experience and no right to claim otherwise. I’ve been an active volunteer for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts since 1999 and most recently was the Cubmaster for nearly three years for Pack 731, the largest Cub Scout pack in the Capital District, with over 100 boys (see www.croftonpack731.org). While Cubmaster, we increased our net enrollment every year, increased our capital reserve fund five-fold (purely through improved fundraising), increased parent involvement, overhauled communications, and provided what is now a sustaining and enviable program for the boys of the Pack. My son Alex, who will be a Junior next year, plays percussion and keyboards. He’s in the Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble. His twin, Eric, plays the trumpet. My youngest, Brian, age 11, plays clarinet.

Vice-President Jim Protin -
Graduate of US Naval Academy and University of Maryland
School of Law.  Retired from the Navy in 2008 after more than 20 years of service.  Currently employed by the Department of Energy.  I've been an AIMA member for three years, and my wife Trish and I have helped in all facets of the program.  I look forward to continuing to serve AIMA and working to improve parental involvement from all parts of Arundel's music program.

Treasurer Mark Greco -
Making myself available as a volunteer for the good of the program, all students and my student. Bachelor of Science degree from the Professional school of Accountancy at C.W.Post. 30 years accounting with the United States Postal Service, 6 years in treasury as a cash forecaster for the United States Postal Service. 7 years as Treasurer for the Crofton Middle School  musical. Most important, a BIG warm heart to relieve the prior treasurer whom didn't have a student in the school or program for two years.

Co-Publicist Joe Fleming -
I am a proud parent of a current sophomore band student and have really been pleased with the experience she has received with the music program.  I have enjoyed volunteering in many aspects as a co-publicist for the 2008-09 year as well as a pit crew member, TOB volunteer and parent chaperone on the 2009 Spring Trip.  My background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Science from the University of Maryland, and 25 years of experience as a software developer including web applications. I enjoyed playing brass instruments in my middle and high school years.  I would like to continue supporting the program and design the AIMA website to be a useful communication tool for parents and students.

Co-Publicist Randy Buckley -
Randy Buckley has been with AIMA as a guard parent for seven years.  He is an IT Project Manager for the Department of Defense and also an active volunteer at the Annapolis SPCA.  Randy previously served on AIMA board of directors as the publicist but had to relinquish his post due to employment scheduling and traveling complications.  Randy has strong web editing skills, created, and currently maintains the Arundel Guard web site.  Randy has also been the Arundel Tournament of Bands coordinator for the last two events.  Randy has a daughter in the guard that will be a senior and a daughter that will be a freshman and also plans to join the guard next year.
